Descendant of Adventist Pioneer Brings Inspiration During Visit to Southern Asia-Pacific Division

Edward Rodriguez

On October 25, 2024, Pastor Justin Torrosian, a descendant of Ellen White, one of the early pioneers of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and God's messenger of the Spirit of Prophecy, paid a brief but significant visit to the Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) headquarters. Pastor Edgar Bryan Tolentino, the director of Spirit of Prophecy, and SSD President Pastor Roger Caderma extended a warm welcome to Pastor Torrosian.

Born and raised in Northern California, Pastor Justin Torrosian prepared for ministry at Pacific Union College and served as a youth pastor for five years before completing his Master of Divinity at Andrews University. He has traveled the world, preaching to various audiences and sharing the Everlasting Gospel out of a love for God and a passion for doing so. In January 2019, God opened the door for him to move to Australia, where he married Charissa, a teaching graduate from Macquarie University in Sydney. Charissa shares his enthusiasm for presenting the Bible's relevance in modern times and has inspired audiences globally with her clarity and dedication to Scripture. The couple welcomed their son in 2023, and today, the Torrosian family is based in Newcastle, Australia, where they serve together in the North New South Wales Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Pastor Torrosian visited the Philippines to lead a Week of Prayer at the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies, where he presented a series titled "The History of Tomorrow." His messages emphasized the importance of Adventist heritage and identity in advancing the mission of sharing the gospel with today’s generation.

During his visit to SSD, Pastor Torrosian toured the Adventist Heritage Center, which showcases the early beginnings and development of the Adventist Church in the southern Asia-Pacific region. Reflecting on the experience, he expressed admiration for the growth of the church and God's providence in guiding its mission over the years. "It’s a humbling experience to witness how the Lord has led His church, from its early pioneers to the present, in such a vast and diverse region," Torrosian shared during an interview.

Pastor Torrosian also noted that his first evangelistic series took place in Palawan, Philippines, a memorable experience that deepened his connection to the region. He shared, "Beginning my ministry journey here holds a special place in my heart, and it’s inspiring to see how the mission continues to grow."

Pastor Torrosian’s visit to the SSD served as a powerful reminder of the Adventist Church’s rich heritage and the prophetic role Ellen White played in shaping its message and mission. His connection to this legacy reinforced the enduring influence of the Spirit of Prophecy on the church’s journey of faith, inspiring Adventists worldwide to remain committed to sharing the gospel and following God’s leading.
