Leaders of the Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) are finalizing preparations for the division’s first mid-year meeting of the 2026–2030 quinquennium, scheduled for May 5 to 6, 2026. The gathering follows the recently concluded Spring Meeting of the General Conference in April and aims to align regional priorities with the broader direction of the world church.
The meeting will bring together administrators, department directors, and institutional leaders to discuss key initiatives that will guide the church’s mission across the Southern Asia-Pacific region.
Among the major agenda items is the implementation of the “One Voice 27” initiative, a global movement encouraging church members to actively participate in sharing the message of hope through various media platforms. The initiative forms part of the worldwide commemoration of the 2,000th year since the beginning of Jesus Christ’s public ministry, marked by His baptism. Through this effort, members are invited to unite in proclaiming Christ’s love using both digital and traditional means.
This mid-year meeting will also serve as a significant milestone as newly organized church entities participate for the first time following recent organizational developments within the division. Among these are the West-Central Philippine Union Mission and the East-Central Philippine Union Conference, formed after the December 2025 bifurcation of the Central Philippine Union Conference, as well as the West Indonesia Union Mission based in Sumatra and the Central Indonesia Union Mission, which emerged from the reorganization of the former West Indonesia Union Mission in Jakarta.
Their presence highlights the church’s continued efforts to strengthen its structure for mission effectiveness. Leaders are expected to discuss agenda items that advance evangelistic initiatives across the region, particularly in areas where sharing the gospel remains challenging. These discussions will focus on expanding outreach strategies, empowering local churches, and utilizing innovative approaches to communicate the message of hope, ensuring that every territory is equipped to participate in the growing mission field.
In conjunction with the meeting, SSD is holding a week of prayer throughout the week, centered on the theme “Blessed Are Those.” Drawn from the Beatitudes in Matthew 5, the spiritual emphasis seeks to inspire reflection on Christ’s teachings and encourage a deeper commitment to servant leadership and mission.
As the division enters a new quinquennium, leaders view the upcoming mid-year meeting as an opportunity to affirm unity in purpose and renew dedication to sharing the message of hope and salvation across the Southern Asia-Pacific region.
