Despite several days of heavy rain, approximately 100 young people and adults gathered at Preah Sihanouk Ville Seventh-day Adventist Church for an evangelistic program held Sept. 23–26, 2026.
Located on Cambodia’s southwestern coast, Sihanoukville experiences particularly heavy rainfall during the monsoon season. The participants’ steady attendance reflected their strong interest in the spiritual messages presented throughout the four-day program.
Nezaida May Alzola-Tabelisma, assistant secretary of the Adventist Church in the Southern Asia-Pacific region (SSD), encouraged participants to place Jesus at the center of their lives, relationships and families. Attendees were invited to deepen their faith and respond personally to Christ’s call.

The gathering took place within Cambodia’s predominantly Buddhist cultural setting, where Christians represent a small religious minority. Against this backdrop, the program provided an opportunity for the local congregation to share the hope of the gospel and strengthen its connection with the surrounding community.
As the baptism approached, persistent rain raised concerns about whether the service could proceed. Church members prayed, and the rain stopped at the baptism site, allowing the ceremony to continue. Eight people were baptized, publicly affirming their faith and beginning a new journey with Jesus.
The congregation is also preparing to participate in OneVoice27, a global Seventh-day Adventist initiative, through personal evangelism leading toward a local harvest celebration in 2027.

For the church in Sihanoukville, the baptism was a joyful testimony of God’s grace and a reminder of the hope found in Jesus.
