The Executive Committee of the Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) elected Pastor Ritus Keni from the East Indonesia region as president of the Timor-Leste Mission, succeeding Pastor Chris Anderson. During the recent constituency session in Muaklek, Thailand, delegates of the Southeastern Asia Union Mission elected Anderson to serve as associate executive secretary for Adventist Mission and Global Mission, with responsibilities that include the director for the Center for Adventist-Buddhist Relations, Gospel Outreach, Mission Refocus, and Public Affairs and Religious Liberty.
Pastor Keni previously served as president of the Manado and North Maluku Conference and has held multiple leadership and pastoral roles within the Seventh-day Adventist Church. His responsibilities have included serving as the City Evangelism and Refocus on Mission Coordinator for the Eastern Indonesia Union Conference, where he supported evangelistic initiatives and helped strengthen local church outreach.
Throughout his ministry, Pastor Keni has remained actively engaged in mission activities across Indonesia. His visits to educational institutions such as Tobelo Adventist Academy reflect his commitment to supporting Adventist education and encouraging young people in their spiritual and personal growth. He has also been invited to speak for district-wide worship gatherings, including combined vespers programs that bring churches together for fellowship and inspiration.
During the pandemic lockdown, Pastor Keni and his wife, Olifia, launched a YouTube channel called Flower Mix Manado. What began as a simple gardening hobby during isolation grew into a digital ministry that reached thousands. Through short videos featuring homegrown plants, reflections, and messages of encouragement, the couple found an unexpected avenue to share hope and faith. The project has continued to inspire viewers and remains an example of creative digital evangelism within the region.
Pastor Keni’s leadership experience in Indonesia and his involvement in cross-border ministry engagements, including the Philippines, provide a strong foundation as he steps into his new role in Timor-Leste. The Adventist Church in the territory continues to grow, and his appointment comes at a significant time as local leaders work to strengthen discipleship, expand community engagement, and support members across the emerging field.
As he begins this new assignment, Pastor Keni carries with him years of pastoral experience, a heart for mission, and a practical approach to ministry that connects with both local congregations and digital audiences. His election marks a new chapter for the Timor-Leste Mission as it continues its work of sharing hope and serving communities across the nation.
