The Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church has officially launched Mission REAPS, a five-year strategic plan that transforms the global church’s I Will Go initiative into a dynamic, region-wide movement for mission.
Guided by the theme “Grounded in the Bible, Focused on the Mission,” Mission REAPS calls every Adventist member across 11 countries to respond to Christ’s Great Commission with renewed passion, purpose, and participation.
A United Response to “I Will Go”
Rooted in prayer, collaboration, and evangelism, Mission REAPS is more than a strategic framework—it’s a journey of faith and action. The acronym REAPS stands for Reach, Expand, Advance, Proclaim, and Seek–Save–Disciple, defining five annual phases that will lead the division from 2026 to 2030 in a united rhythm of mission engagement.
According to SSD President Pastor Roger Caderma, Mission REAPS “represents our collective heartbeat for mission—a movement where every believer is empowered to act, serve, and witness in their community and beyond. This is our shared response to Jesus’ call to go and make disciples.”
Five Years, One Missional Direction
Each year of Mission REAPS focuses on a distinct yet interconnected phase of growth and outreach, building momentum toward sustainable mission impact:
Mission Reach 2026: We intentionally reach people, places, and possibilities —transforming lives with the light of hope and love and extending the grace and truth of our message to new territories and hearts.
Mission Expand 2027: We boldly expand our influence and impact, breaking barriers and crossing borders to fulfill the Great Commission. With OneVoice27, the whole Church is mobilized to reach even the digital mission field.
Mission Advance 2028: We steadily advance in our mission and methods with courage and innovation, refusing to remain stagnant in a rapidly changing world. We will advance in numbers, geographical areas, and especially in our relationship with Jesus.
Mission Proclaim 2029: We passionately lift Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord and preach the everlasting gospel in the context of the Three Angels’ messages, focusing on our Adventist distinctive beliefs and end-time prophecies.
Mission Seek, Save, Disciple 2030: We faithfully sustain the mission through ongoing discipleship and church planting—seeking those who have left the church and celebrating a Grand Homecoming. We continue the cycle of soul-winning to ensure lasting impact for generations to come.
“This is not just a program—it’s a lifestyle of mission,” said SSD Vice President Pastor Arnel Gabin. “Mission REAPS helps us become intentional in every effort, ensuring that everything we do, whether big or small, points people to Jesus.”
REACH 2026: The Beginning of the Movement
The five-year journey begins in 2026 with REACH, setting the foundation for the succeeding phases. REACH embodies the first step of mission engagement—entering new frontiers, creating new faith communities, and bringing the gospel to where it has not yet been heard.
Its mission goals are clear and compelling:
Enter unentered villages, towns, cities, people groups, and digital spaces. The Adventist message will reach new and unreached territories—physically and virtually—through personal ministry and digital evangelism designed to meet people where they are.
Establish new worship groups. Churches are encouraged to nurture small fellowships where new believers can grow in faith and fellowship, serving as the seeds of future congregations and centers of influence.
Put up new church buildings. As these worship groups mature, physical churches will rise as beacons of hope, welcoming communities to gather, worship, and witness for Christ.
Organize house churches. House churches will serve as vital spaces for worship and outreach, especially in places where formal gatherings may be limited. These intimate settings reflect the simplicity and faith of the early Christian church.
Gabin emphasized that REACH 2026 is about “going beyond boundaries—geographical, cultural, and digital—to make Jesus known in every possible space.”
He added, “The mission field is not just far away. It begins with the person next to you, your coworker, your classmate, your online follower. Every Adventist can make an impact.”
The Biblical Foundation of REAPS
The heartbeat of Mission REAPS is anchored in Scripture, specifically in John 4:35–36 (NKJV):
“Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.”
These verses remind believers that the world is ready for the harvest—the time to act is now. Mission REAPS invites every member to see the world as Jesus sees it: fields ripe for mission, waiting for faithful hands and willing hearts.
Every Member a Missionary
Mission REAPS thrives on the principle that every Adventist is called to be a missionary. Whether through prayer, digital engagement, compassion ministries, or church planting, every believer can help bring the gospel to the world.
SSD departments, unions, and institutions are aligning their efforts to ensure every church is equipped with training, materials, and spiritual support—creating a unified movement that reflects Christ’s mission in action.
Grounded in the Bible, Focused on the Mission
As Mission REAPS moves forward, its guiding tagline—“Grounded in the Bible, Focused on the Mission”—serves as both a reminder and a declaration.
It reminds the church that true success in mission comes only when it remains rooted in Scripture and driven by Christ’s love for people. It declares that every step, every campaign, and every initiative under REAPS is not just organizational but deeply spiritual—a divine calling to carry the light of Jesus to every nation, tribe, and people.
Inspiring a Generation to Move
Mission REAPS invites every believer to move beyond comfort zones and take part in God’s ongoing story of redemption. It is not confined to pulpits or programs—it’s a daily lifestyle of faith, service, and compassion.
As REACH 2026 draws near, SSD leaders call every Adventist to pray, prepare, and participate. The next five years will be a time of transformation—both for the church and for those it seeks to reach.
