Revival Meetings in Bangladesh Result in 72 Baptisms

      July 24, 2023

A series of Spiritual and Revival Meetings were held throughout the territories of North and South Bangladesh (NBM and SBM). Youth and Bangladesh Children's Sponsorship Services (BCSS)  collaborated in this effort in a powerful display of faith and unity. These meetings, themed 'Alive in Christ and Be His Witness,' aimed to inspire young people to develop their connection with Christ and become effective ambassadors of their faith. Sweetie Ritchil, Associate Treasurer of the Adventist Church in the Southern Asia Pacific (SSD) region, and Anukul Ritchil, SSD Pathfinder Coordinator, served as speakers in this meeting. Representatives from the Bangladesh Union Office and BCSS expressed their full support in spearheading this program.

The first series of these transformative spiritual gatherings began on July 12th and 15th, 2023, at the Monosapara Adventist Seminary and School. The seminary's peaceful setting provided a great atmosphere for attendees to engage in prayer, worship, and reflection. Sweetie Ritchil and Anukul Ritchil's counsel and insights significantly influenced the hearts of attendees, promoting a renewed dedication to their Christian journey.

Following the sessions, the spiritual fervor spread to three village churches. Participants in these local congregations engaged in private sessions, allowing for a more personal experience with their faith. The village church sessions were marked by impassioned prayers and sincere testimonials, which strengthened the youth's desire to live out their faith.

The attendees' continued prayers brought fruit, as 22 individuals decided for baptism as a result of their involvement in the meetings held at Monosapara Adventist Seminary and School.

The momentum of this spiritual movement continued when the second round of meetings took place from July 19th to July 22nd, 2023 at the Kellogg-Mookerjee Memorial Seminary (KMMS). The events at KMMS drew an even larger crowd, with 50 people embracing the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and publicly declaring their faith in baptism. The remarkable result of these meetings led 72 individuals to make a heartfelt decision to embrace their faith through baptism.

The recent Youth and BCSS Spiritual Meetings in Bangladesh are the church’s response to sharing faith within the 10/40 Window. Following a series of meetings held in various regions, the Adventist Church in Bangladesh welcomed a considerable increase in the number of new believers. This turnout highlights the involvement of church members in demonstrating dedication to cultivating a thriving and dynamic community of believers.

Sweetie Ritchil reflected on the impact of these events, saying, "Witnessing the transformation in the lives of these young individuals has been a humbling experience." Their energy and commitment in seeking a closer relationship with Christ is very motivating. This effort, I believe, will have a long-term impact on their lives and the communities they serve."

"It is heartening to see the youth embrace their faith and recognize the importance of being active witnesses for Christ," Mr. Anukul Ritchil remarked. “I am confident that their dedication to being 'Alive in Christ and Be His Witness' will have a long-term impact on our church and society."

As the Adventist community in Bangladesh looks ahead, they are devoted to supporting their youth's spiritual growth and maintaining their evangelistic endeavors. The testimonials of those who had a deep spiritual awakening during these sessions serve as a compelling reminder of the need of developing strong bonds with Christ and fellow Christians.

The recently concluded Youth and BCSS Spiritual Meetings in Bangladesh have proven to be a turning point in the lives of many young individuals. The 72 baptisms attest to faith, prayer, and collective worship's transformative power. As these new believers continue on their spiritual journeys, they are now prepared to be firm ambassadors of Christ, spreading His love and message throughout their country.
