Pastor Petronio M. Genebago, current Youth Director of the Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD), has been elected as the new Associate Director of the Youth Ministries Department of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
The election was confirmed during the General Conference Executive Committee session, recognizing Genebago’s leadership in youth ministry, education, and mission across the SSD territory, which spans 11 countries within the 10/40 Window. He will now serve alongside Youth Ministries Director Pastor Busi Khumalo and fellow newly elected Associate Director Alfred Asiem.
Pastor Genebago’s appointment brings with it more than a decade of experience in nurturing, training, and mobilizing young people for mission. Under his leadership, the SSD Youth Department launched various initiatives such as Voice of Youth, SAD Free Movement, and many more.
“Pastor Genebago has been instrumental in equipping young leaders and creating pathways for youth involvement in both local and global evangelistic efforts,” said Pastor Roger Caderma, SSD President. “We are confident that God will use him mightily to help inspire and mobilize young people around the world for His mission.”
Known for his down-to-earth leadership style, Pastor Genebago’s passion for youth engagement is deeply rooted in his own calling. From his early years of pastoral work in the Central Luzon Conference to leading major youth conventions in the North Philippines and the Adventist University of the Philippines, he has emphasized identity in Christ, service, and mission readiness. His transition to the General Conference office underscores the global Church’s continued commitment to developing young leaders and supporting youth-driven evangelism.
He will officially begin his term following his relocation to the General Conference headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland.
The Seventh-day Adventist Church places strong emphasis on youth involvement, believing that young people are not only the future of the Church but also its present. Pastor Genebago’s election reinforces this vision, ensuring continuity of dynamic and Spirit-led leadership for youth ministries around the globe.
