The newly established Southern Luzon Philippine Union Mission (SLPUM) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church has successfully concluded its first constituency meeting, marking a pivotal moment in the region’s history. Delegates from across the new union territory gathered to elect the first set of department directors who will lead the organization in fulfilling its mission of spreading the gospel and serving communities.
The formation of SLPUM was finalized after a series of historic events. On November 19, 2024, the constituency of the North Philippine Union Conference (NPUC) approved the dissolution of NPUC to facilitate the creation of two independent union organizations: the Northern Luzon Philippine Union Mission (NLPUM) and SLPUM. This restructuring aims to enhance the efficiency of church operations and bring the administrative structure closer to the field for more effective ministry.
The following day, November 20, 2024, NLPUM held its first constituency meeting, where its new department directors were elected. Inspired by the success of their northern counterpart, SLPUM convened its first constituency meeting on November 21, 2024, to organize its leadership structure.
The elected directors for SLPUM will oversee the ministries of the new organization, guiding efforts in areas such as evangelism, education, health, family ministries, youth, and more. Their work will support the mission's overarching goal of spiritual growth, community development, and outreach within Southern Luzon territories.
Below is the list of newly elected SLPUM directors:
Relino Urbi, VP NDR/IEL/SSPM
Delba de Chavez, Women’s/Family Ministries
Agnes Ravalo, Education
Armando Ogmar, Publishing/Spirit of Prophecy Coordinator
Jade Hintay, Health/APM
Diovelyn Cajobe, Childrens/Ministerial Spouses Association
Josue Baldera, Youth/Stewardship Ministries
Jose Orbe, Jr., Communication/PARL/PGTS
Adriel Gavenia, Ministerial Secretary
Due to the vacuum created by the election of the above directors, the following posts from lower organizations have also been filled:
Cavite Mission
Lea Fabon, Treasurer
Palawan Mission
Eliezer Barientos, President
Ramil Rey, Executive Secretary
Mindoro Islands Mission
David Morado, President
The leadership teams of both NLPUM and SLPUM are expected to play a vital role in empowering local churches, facilitating resource distribution, and strengthening ministry initiatives throughout their territories. Delegates expressed optimism that this new chapter will lead to more focused and impactful church programs.
As SLPUM begins its journey, prayers and support from members across the Southern Asia-Pacific Division are requested to ensure a fruitful ministry under God’s guidance.
