Mbwana Urged for Soul-winning — Recognizing the Ripe Harvest

In a powerful and stirring message delivered at the second plenary session on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, Pastor Geoffrey Gabriel Mbwana, General Vice President of the Adventist World Church, encouraged delegates by stressing the critical importance of spreading the gospel without delay.

Quoting the words of Leonardo da Vinci, Pastor Mbwana set the tone by urging action over complacency, stating, “Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do. We must live what we know.”

Using impactful biblical stories, Mbwana illustrated the urgency of soul-winning. He delved into the account of Jesus feeding the multitude with only a few loaves and fish, showcasing the difference between physical sustenance and the everlasting nourishment of the soul. He prompted delegates to consider not only partaking in blessings but also sharing the overflow with those in need, cautioning against wasting the divine abundance.

Mbwana’s thought-provoking question resonated throughout the venue: “Are you a Christian because of the bread Jesus has given you? Are you worshiping the bread—the gifts He has given you—or Jesus Christ?” He emphasized the importance of cherishing the giver more than the gift, warning against falling into a false ministry focused solely on earthly provisions.

Moreover, Mbwana highlighted the pressing need to recognize the ripe harvest of souls around us, comparing the readiness for spiritual enlightenment to a bountiful harvest waiting to be gathered. Urging the delegates to open their eyes to the spiritual blindness plaguing the community, he encouraged immediate action by leading others to Christ.

As the Seventh-Day Adventist Church embarks on its mission to make disciples of all nations, Mbwana’s impassioned plea serves as a powerful call to action for all believers to seize the moment, heed the call of the harvest, and bring the light of salvation to a world in need.
