The Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) Executive Committee has approved the adoption of “LIFE” as the unifying strategic framework for youth ministries across the region for the 2026–2030 term, establishing a spiritually grounded pathway aimed at guiding young people from spiritual dryness to Spirit-empowered mission.
Voted during the SSD midyear meeting, the framework draws inspiration from Ezekiel 37:1–14, the biblical vision of the Valley of Dry Bones, portraying God’s power to restore life, identity, and purpose to His people.
Leaders explained that the initiative responds to the realities many young people face today—uncertainty, disconnection, and a lack of spiritual vitality—while emphasizing God’s promise of renewal and transformation.
“The vision of the dry bones reflects the condition of many youth today, yet it also reveals God’s restoring power,” the recommendation stated. “LIFE presents a clear journey from spiritual emptiness to revival and mission.”
Pastor Heshbon Buscato, SSD Youth Director, said the LIFE framework clearly reflects the realities many young people face today and provides a meaningful pathway toward spiritual revival and mission engagement.
“It perfectly depicts the condition of many young people today,” Buscato said. “The LIFE framework—Living with God, Identity in Christ, Filled with the Holy Spirit, and Engaged in Mission—is something our young people can deeply relate to as they journey through life. It illustrates the transformation from spiritual lifelessness into becoming a generation empowered by the Holy Spirit and ready to engage in God’s mission. This is our adaptation and application of the I Will Go strategic plan framework from the General Conference in a way that speaks meaningfully to the youth of the Southern Asia-Pacific region.”
The acronym LIFE outlines four major stages of spiritual formation and mission engagement.
The first pillar, “Living with God,” emphasizes restoring a personal relationship with God. Based on Ezekiel 37:1, where the prophet is brought into the valley by the hand of the Lord, the framework highlights the importance of recognizing God’s presence even in seasons of spiritual dryness. Youth ministries throughout the division will focus on helping young people reconnect with God through intentional spiritual disciplines and personal devotion.
The second component, “Identity in Christ,” centers on God’s question to Ezekiel: “Son of man, can these bones live?” (verse 3). Organizers noted that although the bones appeared hopelessly dry, God still saw the potential for life. The initiative seeks to remind young people that their identity is defined not by failure, brokenness, or cultural pressures, but by God’s redemptive purpose.
The third stage, “Filled with the Spirit,” draws from verse 9, where the breath of God enters the restored bodies and brings them to life. Leaders emphasized that structure and activity alone are insufficient without the transforming work of the Holy Spirit. Through this phase, youth ministries will encourage young people to move beyond outward religion into a deeper, Spirit-filled experience with God.
The final pillar, “Engaged in Mission,” reflects the climax of the vision in verse 10, where the restored people stand as an “exceedingly great army.” The framework challenges young people to actively participate in God’s mission as witnesses, leaders, and agents of hope in their communities and beyond.
The document also references Ellen G. White’s statement from Education, page 271: “With such an army of workers as our youth, rightly trained, might furnish, how soon the message of a crucified, risen, and soon-coming Saviour might be carried to the whole world!”
SSD leaders clarified that LIFE does not replace the division’s broader strategic initiative known as REAPS—Reach (2026), Expand (2027), Advance (2028), Proclaim (2029), and Seek, Save, Disciple (2030). Instead, LIFE serves as the spiritual formation framework that prepares young people to actively engage in the mission goals outlined in REAPS.
Church leaders believe the framework offers a compelling narrative of transformation, moving from dry bones to restoration, from breath to mission, and ultimately to a generation empowered to stand for God’s purpose.
More than a ministry strategy, SSD leaders described LIFE as a prophetic journey of revival and discipleship for the next generation.
This framework calls young people to experience true revival and to become an exceedingly great army for God’s purpose in this generation.
