On Day 4 of the Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) Year-End Meetings, Pastor Thomas Lemon, GC Vice President, delivered to participants a devotional message titled “The Other Side of Faithfulness,” which highlighted the profound influence a life of faith can have on others. Pastor Lemon illustrated how faithfulness to God not only shapes our personal journey but also has a ripple effect, stirring others to seek and embrace a relationship with the Creator.

The devotional began with a reflection on the lyrics of a worship song that extol the majesty and eternal rule of God. This powerful image served as a foundation for understanding that, while God’s power is supreme, He often chooses to work through the faithful lives of His people to reach the hearts of others. Pastor Lemon shared examples from the lives of biblical figures Nebuchadnezzar and Darius, two rulers who began as outsiders to the faith but were ultimately transformed by witnessing the faithfulness of others.

Nebuchadnezzar, a once tyrannical and proud king, encountered God through the unwavering integrity of Daniel and his companions. Over time, Nebuchadnezzar moved from defiance to worship, learning that true greatness is found not in personal power but in humility and devotion to God. Similarly, Darius, deeply moved by Daniel’s courage and commitment, experienced a profound moment of realization about the character of the God of heaven. Though Darius may have acknowledged God intellectually, it was the witness of Daniel’s life that brought him to a deeper, experiential understanding.

Pastor Lemon emphasized that faithfulness is not only about personal salvation but about embodying a message that impacts others. Just as a balanced equation requires equal weight on both sides, he explained that a faithful life produces a corresponding reaction in the lives of others. Through the faithfulness of God’s people, others may come to see God’s power, mercy, and love in action.

In another illustration, Pastor Lemon pointed to Hezekiah, a king who, despite experiencing God’s miraculous healing, missed an opportunity to testify to God’s goodness and mercy. Instead, he turned inward, missing a critical moment to shine a light on God’s power. This, Pastor Lemon cautioned, serves as a reminder that faithfulness is not to be taken casually, as it bears the potential to illuminate God’s glory to those around us.

Pastor Lemon underscored that the church’s mission to send missionaries is rooted in this principle of shared faithfulness. Missionaries bring a message of hope and healing to those who may be far from God, living out a faith that has the power to transform lives and communities. Their devotion and witness mirror the call of all believers to live as examples of God’s love, showing that faithfulness is a tool through which God reaches hearts and draws people into His kingdom.

Pastor Lemon ended with a reminder sharing Revelation 3:20, a prompt of God’s continual invitation to each person to open the door and welcome Him into their lives. He encouraged the SSD Year-End Meeting attendees to take this invitation personally, recognizing that their commitment to God’s commandments, their faithfulness, and their mission serve as beacons that can lead others to the same doorway of salvation.

This day’s devotional reminded SSD members that faithfulness is more than just an individual commitment; it is a communal force that brings people together in the purpose of lifting God’s name and sharing His kingdom. Pastor Lemon’s message served as a powerful reminder that every believer’s faithfulness is part of a larger mission, revealing God’s love and compassion to a world in need of hope.
