Who says children can’t play a vital role in the mission of the church? The Children’s Ministries Department in Northern Luzon (NLPUM) ensured that young minds were not only included but actively prepared for mission work. Through an engaging orientation and Vacation Bible School (VBS) training for the Harvest 2025 campaign, children from across the region were equipped with the knowledge and confidence to share Jesus in their communities.
The Northern Luzon Philippine Union Mission (NLUM) recently held a Vacation Bible School (VBS) Training and Harvest 2025 Orientation, empowering children and their parents to take an active role in the Southern Asia-Pacific Division’s (SSD) division-wide initiative to share the gospel. The event underscored the vital role of children in mission work and trained mothers and church leaders in nurturing young minds for evangelism.
The orientation provided a sneak peek into Harvest 2025, a yearlong evangelistic movement designed to reach communities across 11 countries in the 10/40 window. While much of the focus has been on church leaders, ministers, and adult members, this initiative uniquely highlights the importance of children as frontline participants in mission work. Through engaging workshops, interactive storytelling, and hands-on activities, young participants learned how they could share the love of Jesus in their neighborhoods.
Mrs. Danita Caderma, SSD Children’s Ministries Director, graced the orientation alongside other Children’s Ministries leaders from the Northern Luzon region, inspiring and equipping participants for mission-driven discipleship.
Generation Alpha in Action
As the church moves forward in its mission, Generation Alpha—children born in the digital era—is being taught to become messengers of hope. Instructors emphasized that evangelism is not limited to the pulpit or large gatherings; even in their own communities, schools, and homes, children can become ambassadors for Christ. By incorporating lessons from Vacation Bible School, young learners were equipped with biblical foundations to engage their peers in meaningful conversations about faith.
Parents also played a pivotal role in the training. Mothers who attended the sessions were reminded of their God-given responsibility to nurture their children as young missionaries. As primary educators at home, they were encouraged to integrate faith-based values into their daily interactions, helping their children grow in spiritual leadership and mission-mindedness.
A Collaborative Effort Between Local Church Leaders
The event was made possible through the collaboration of dedicated Children’s Ministries (CHM) teams from various churches, including Pasay Central Church, Pasay Adventist Church, Lagro Seventh-day Adventist Church, and core team members from different local fields. Des Tabo Castillo, Nasataya Robi, Lyne Dilag, Joy Hernandez, and other devoted CHM leaders dedicated their hearts to ensuring that this platform would leave a lasting impact on the young attendees.
