Financial Collaboration Strengthens Adventist Institutions in Timor Leste

Financial Collaboration Strengthens Adventist Institutions in Timor Leste

On December 15, 2023, Sweetie Ritchil, one of the associate treasurers of the Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD), spearheaded a financial collaboration and convened the treasury teams of Timor Leste Mission, Timor Leste Adventist International School, and ADRA Timor Leste.

The primary objective was to ensure the production of accurate financial reports in a timely manner, empowering the management to make informed decisions aligned with the fulfillment of the Great Commission of Jesus.

In pursuit of this goal, an agreement was reached among the institutions. Marian Yaqoub, the accountant of Timor Leste Adventist International School, and Shanika Kaluthanthri, the finance director of ADRA Timor Leste, committed to sending their respective financial statements to the Treasurer of Timor Leste Mission on the 10th of each month. These statements would then be consolidated, and the financial data would be sent collectively to the Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) every quarter on the 15th of the following month.

A significant highlight of the meeting was the emphasis on compliance monitoring in line with the policies of the SSD. The pathway to achieving full policy compliance involves an annual monitoring report, providing the Treasury team with the necessary information to ensure adherence.

This collaborative effort not only streamlines financial processes but also reflects the Seventh-day Adventist perspective on responsible stewardship. Adventist teachings encourage transparency and accountability, emphasizing the importance of managing resources effectively for the advancement of the mission.

By aligning financial practices with Adventist beliefs, this initiative seeks to strengthen the institutions involved, fostering a united approach to fulfilling the mission of spreading the message of hope and love in Timor Leste. The commitment to accurate reporting and compliance underscores the Adventist commitment to excellence in all aspects of service and mission.
