Day nine of the 62nd General Conference (GC) Session closed with an evening worship service hosted by Hope Channel International highlighting the story of a woman named Adhilakshmi in India.
This testimony is a part of the series Stories of Hope that shares powerful first-hand accounts of lives changed by the gospel.
Adhilakshmi lost all hope of becoming a mother until a late-night TV broadcast sparked a quiet faith in her. Amid village opposition and family shame, her desperate prayer set a miracle in motion.
“Everyone would say to me, ‘She believed in God, even after losing everything,’ ” said Adhilakshmi.
Before the testimony, Delmar Reis, president of the Albanian Mission in the Trans-European Division, shared a story on being a witness for Christ in a non-Christian region.
One Easter, Reis's wife organized a special week at the Adventist school in Albania, for students to spend each day learning about the story of Jesus.
Though it is an Adventist school, a majority of the students come from Muslim homes, and for many it was the first time hearing the story of the sacrifice of Jesus.
After each child received a small amount of grape juice and bread, they wanted more. Reis's wife responded to the children by explaining that when you taste Jesus, you always want more.
“One of the kids, with a big smile, shouted, ‘More of Jesus,’ ” Reis said.
Evening worship takes place each night of session at 7 p.m. inside the arena. July 10 marks the last evening worship hosted by Hope Channel International featuring a Stories of Hope video.
Evening worships are followed by division and union reports. Tonight's reports were given by the Trans-European Division, Euro-Asia Division, and West-Central Africa Division.
