Dr. Ginger Ketting-Weller Called as AIIAS President

      November 28, 2018

On December 17, the Board of the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies (AIIAS) voted to place a call for Dr. Ginger Ketting-Weller to serve as the eighth president of AIIAS. We understand that this is the beginning of a call, process through the General Conference, which will take several months.  We also understand that the Wellers will complete the school year, fulfilling their current responsibilities which will extend to the end of June.

Dr. Ginger Ketting-Weller currently serves as the dean of the School of Education at La Sierra University, in Riverside, California where she oversees graduate programs in Education and has developed a new PhD program in Leadership. She has 25 years of teaching experience in higher education, and also has 8 years of experience in Adventist K-12 educational work. She has previously served as a professor of teacher education at Pacific Union College and Vice President for Academic Administration at Walla Walla University.

Dr. Ginger Ketting-Weller has participated on visiting teams of the Adventist Accrediting Association, served on the General Conference Executive Committee of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the North American Division Board of Ministerial and Theological Education, the Association of Adventist Academic Administrators, and now chairs the Association of Chairs and Deans of Education. Dr. Ketting-Weller was born in Thailand and lived the first 18 years of her life in Thailand, Penang, Malaysia, and Singapore.

Ginger Ketting-Weller is married to Dr. James C Weller (Jim), Junior High Principal of Loma Linda Academy, who has been chosen by the AIIAS Academy Board and AIIAS Administrative Committee to be principal at the AIIAS Academy. Dr. Jim Weller has served as principal in a number of Adventist educational institutions including Hawaiian Mission Academy and holds a Ph.D. in Leadership from Andrews University.  He has taught graduate-level courses in educational leadership and Adventist philosophy of education on the campuses of Walla Walla University, La Sierra University, and Union College.

Dr. Ginger Ketting-Weller will succeed Dr. Stephen Guptill, who has served at AIIAS since the end of 2006.
AIIAS is an international graduate-level institution of the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventists which offers masters and doctoral degree programs in the areas of business, education, theology, and a Master of Public Health. Located in Silang, Cavite, Philippines, AIIAS has students and faculty from more than 70 countries.
