Adventist Pastors in Cambodia Gear Up for Online Outreach

The Adventist Church in Cambodia (CAM) Communication Department launched a two-day digital evangelism training on May 26–27, 2025, at the CAM Training Center. Led by CAM Communication Director Pastor Kimseng, the program brought together over 20 district pastors from across the country to equip them with essential digital communication skills for mission.

Cambodia, with a population of around 17 million, is predominantly Buddhist, with approximately 97.1% adhering to Buddhism . This religious landscape presents unique challenges and opportunities for Christian evangelism, particularly in the digital realm.

The training program focuses on enhancing pastors’ abilities in storytelling, social media engagement, and the utilization of artificial intelligence tools to amplify their evangelistic outreach. By embracing digital platforms, CAM aims to extend its reach and share the message of Jesus Christ more effectively within the 10/40 window—a region characterized by limited access to Christian resources.

“This training is a much-needed step forward for our pastors,” said Kimseng. “It equips them with practical tools to begin their own digital evangelism efforts. We still have much to learn, but this experience has opened our eyes to new opportunities and reminded us that the mission must continue—even in the digital space.”

The initiative is conducted in collaboration with Pastor Tran Quoc Khoi from the Adventist Church in the Southeastern Asia region (SEUM) and leaders from the Adventist Church in Southern Asia-Pacific region (SSD), including Pastor Heshbon Buscato, SSD Communication Director, and Edward Rodriguez, SSD Assistant Communication Director.

“Digital evangelism is not just a trend; it’s a vital tool for reaching hearts in today’s world,” remarked Pastor Heshbon Buscato. “Our goal is to inspire and equip our pastors to utilize these tools to share the gospel effectively.”

The training sessions encompass various aspects of digital communication, including content creation, social media strategies, and the ethical use of AI in ministry. Participants are encouraged to develop authentic and engaging content that resonates with both Adventist and non-Adventist audiences.

As Cambodia continues to embrace technological advancements, CAM recognizes the importance of adapting evangelistic approaches to meet the evolving needs of its population. By investing in digital training for its pastors, CAM demonstrates a commitment to spreading the gospel message in a culturally sensitive and impactful manner.

The ongoing training program signifies a proactive approach to evangelism, leveraging digital tools to navigate the complexities of ministry within a predominantly Buddhist context. Through collaboration, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to sharing the love of Jesus, CAM endeavors to make a meaningful impact in the digital mission field.
