More than 50 pastors, district leaders, and church planters from across Cambodia gathered in Phnom Penh for a three-day Gospel Outreach (GO) training initiative aimed at strengthening evangelism, discipleship, and member involvement in ministry.

Conducted by the Adventist Church in Cambodia (CAM) from April 20 to 22, 2026, the training equipped church workers with practical strategies to expand ministry efforts and nurture new believers throughout the country. The event took place at the mission’s training center in Phnom Penh.

Dr. Gary Wagner, Gospel Outreach regional director, served as the lead presenter during the training sessions. He emphasized three essential principles for effective ministry, beginning with the importance of “preparing the soil” by building genuine relationships with people from different backgrounds and communities.

Wagner also highlighted the value of following “Christ’s method alone,” encouraging church workers to minister to people’s practical and spiritual needs as a way of gaining trust and opening doors for meaningful spiritual conversations.

In addition, he underscored the significance of discipleship, reminding leaders that ministry extends beyond baptism and church membership. He encouraged participants to guide believers into becoming committed followers of Jesus Christ who actively participate in the mission of the church.

Participants of the Gospel Outreach (GO) training gather at the Cambodia Adventist Mission training center in Phnom Penh following the three-day initiative held April 20–22, 2026. More than 50 pastors, district leaders, and church planters attended the training focused on evangelism, discipleship, and nurturing new believers across Cambodia.

Throughout the training, presenters stressed the importance of collaboration between pastors, church planters, local leaders, and church members in advancing discipleship initiatives. Speakers encouraged leaders to involve members more intentionally in ministry, fostering shared responsibility in nurturing new believers and strengthening local congregations and church groups.

Organizers shared that the initiative also responded to the growing need for continued spiritual care for more than 2,000 individuals baptized during evangelistic efforts in the previous year. Participants received practical plans and ministry strategies designed to help local churches support and mentor newly baptized members in their faith journey.

Church leaders expressed hope that the training would strengthen outreach efforts across Cambodia and contribute to sustainable spiritual growth within local congregations.

As the Adventist Church in Cambodia continues to expand its evangelistic initiatives, leaders believe that equipping workers and members for discipleship-centered ministry remains essential in helping communities experience the love and hope found in Jesus Christ.
