The Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church expresses its heartfelt condolences and prayers to all those affected by the tragic crash of Jeju Air Flight 7C2216 on December 29, 2024. The crash, which occurred during its approach to Muan International Airport in South Korea, claimed the lives of 179 individuals, including members of the Adventist Church and students connected to its ministry.
South Korea, part of the Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD)—a sister organization and neighbor to SSD—has been profoundly affected by this tragedy. Among the victims were church members, students from a local Adventist school, and their families. This loss is deeply felt throughout the Adventist family worldwide.
Pastor Roger Caderma, president of the Southern Asia-Pacific Division, shared a message of comfort and hope for those grieving: "This tragedy reminds us of the fragility of life and our deep need for God’s presence in moments of pain and loss. We are praying for all those affected by this heartbreaking event. May the Holy Spirit bring comfort and peace to the grieving families, and may we hold onto the blessed promise of Jesus’ soon return, when He will make all things new and wipe away every tear. Let us unite in prayer for our brothers and sisters in the Northern Asia-Pacific Division as they minister to those impacted by this great loss."
SSD continues to pray for the families and communities affected by this tragedy. We invite our church family within this division to join us in lifting up in prayer the grieving families, relief workers, and the Adventist Church in South Korea. May God’s peace sustain all who mourn as we look forward to the blessed hope of His soon return.
