As a vibrant cultural festival filled the streets of Cebu City with music, colors, and dance, another significant gathering took place at the regional headquarters of the Adventist Church in the same region. While the streets were alive with cultural celebrations, 162 Adventist church leaders convened to lay the groundwork for Harvest 2025, the most ambitious evangelism initiative in the denomination's history in the Philippines.

Harvest 2025 is the Southern Asia-Pacific region's initiative in response to the Global Total Member Involvement (TMI) program of the worldwide Adventist Church. This campaign calls every church and every member to actively participate in disciple-making by following Christ’s method of ministry.

The three-day event held January 20–23 brought together top leaders nationwide. Its purpose was clear: to strategize for Harvest 2025, a year-long coordinated evangelistic endeavor that will mobilize all levels of the Adventist Church to spread the gospel throughout the Philippines.

Charting the Course for Harvest 2025

Key topics during the event included branding, media evangelism, disciple-making, care group dynamics, and friendship evangelism. Participants engaged in in-depth theological and biblical reviews, highlighting the Adventist movement's prophetic foundation and emphasizing its unique role in proclaiming the Three Angels’ messages of Revelation.

The Hope Channel Philippines, the official television network of the Adventist Church, announced a bold plan for a simultaneous nationwide broadcast to amplify Harvest 2025’s message to every corner of the archipelago. This initiative is expected to reach millions, leveraging digital and traditional media platforms to achieve unprecedented evangelistic impact.

Reactions From Church Leaders

Attendees left inspired and equipped, their hearts stirred by both the theological presentations and the practical discussions.

Pastor Joel Caspe, South-Central Luzon Ministerial Coordinator, reflected on the profound biblical insights presented: “The theological and biblical review on the basis of the Adventist Church’s existence as prophesied in Daniel 8:14 was so profound. It’s an awesome feeling that God has all this planned from the beginning to redeem humanity, and I’m part of that! The discussion on the Adventists’ distinctive doctrines connects us with various faiths but stands unique in the background of the Great Controversy and Three Angels’ Messages of Revelation.”

Pastor Renante Bareja, South Luzon Region Executive Secretary, emphasized the transformative role of technology in evangelism: “The landscape of evangelism has changed dramatically as it is today. Digital technology has made things faster, wider, and more impactful. Seeing how God uses modern tools to spread His timeless truth.”

Mission Beyond the Meeting

The event was a time for planning and a spiritual recharge for leaders tasked with implementing this massive undertaking. As they return to their respective regions, these leaders carry the vision of a unified and coordinated mission effort rooted in the Adventist calling to prepare the world for Christ’s soon return.

A Historic Year Ahead

Harvest 2025 promises to be a milestone for the Adventist Church in the Philippines, setting a standard for large-scale evangelism in the digital age. As the year progresses, these leaders and their teams will push the limits of faith, unity, and innovation to effectively spread the gospel throughout the nation.

The festive energy of Cebu’s festival may have captured the city’s streets, but within the walls of the Adventist headquarters, a different kind of celebration took place—one of mission, unity, and hope for the future.
