More than 70 communication leaders, multimedia volunteers, and church media personnel gathered at the Adventist Church in East Indonesia (EIUC) headquarters from May 25–27, 2026, for an advisory and training event themed “Building Bridges.” The three-day gathering aimed to strengthen communication ministries across the territory and equip participants to use media more effectively in advancing the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The event brought together communication directors from 13 missions and conferences, along with multimedia teams representing local churches throughout the East Indonesia Union Conference. Organizers designed the program to provide strategic direction, practical training, and opportunities for collaboration among communicators serving in diverse ministry contexts.
The first day focused on an advisory meeting attended by communication directors from the union’s fields. During the session, leaders discussed ministry plans, evaluated current initiatives, and explored strategies to strengthen communication efforts throughout the territory. Participants also examined future directions for communication ministry and its role in supporting the church’s evangelistic mission.
Training sessions on the second and third days featured presentations from several resource speakers. Pastor Carlito Quidet shared biblical and practical perspectives on communication ministry. Antony Stanyer, assistant communication director of the Southern Asia-Pacific Division, introduced participants to the One Voice 27 initiative, branding and design principles, and production ministry. Freelancer Syalomita Kekung presented sessions on social media management and effective digital engagement.
“In the digital era, communication is no longer limited by distance or time,” Quidet emphasized during the training. “God has opened new doors through technology so that the message of salvation can reach more people than ever before. Every piece of content we create, every message we share, and every interaction we engage in should serve as a means of reflecting Christ’s love and helping prepare the world for His soon return.”
Participants actively engaged throughout the training, demonstrating enthusiasm during discussions, workshops, and presentations. Organizers noted that the combination of strategic planning and practical instruction helped attendees gain valuable insights and skills that they can apply in their local communication ministries.
One participant described the training as highly relevant to the realities of modern ministry. “This training was extremely beneficial and highly relevant to the communication challenges of today’s digital era,” the Helmy Kapitua, communication director of the Adventist Church in North Minahasa said. “I am returning home with many new ideas and practical strategies that can be immediately implemented in my area of ministry.” Pastor Steven Rumbiak from the Adventist Church in Papua added, “Communication is a powerful tool for mission, and this training showed us how to use it well.”
The event concluded with a challenge from Pastor Quidet, who encouraged participants to recommit themselves to advancing God’s mission through effective communication. His appeal reminded attendees that communication ministry plays a vital role in connecting people with the message of hope and salvation.
Organizers expressed gratitude for the success of the program and for the spirit of collaboration demonstrated by communication leaders across the union. Participants left the gathering inspired to develop innovative approaches to ministry and strengthen communication efforts in their respective territories.
As digital platforms continue to expand opportunities for outreach, communication leaders throughout East Indonesia reaffirmed their commitment to using media as a bridge that connects communities to Christ and supports the church’s mission of sharing the everlasting gospel.
