Adventist Academy-Cebu (AAC) recently marked a momentous occasion as it celebrated its 93rd founding anniversary from May 11–14, 2023. Under the theme "93 Years of Achieving, Advancing, and Coming Together," the grand celebration highlighted the school's rich heritage, remarkable achievements, and unwavering commitment to shaping young minds for nearly a century.

On behalf of the administrators, faculty, and staff of AAC, Dr. Ruby Myrrh Ortega, principal of the academy, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the leaders of the Central Philippine Union Conference (CPUC) and Central Visayan Conference (CVC), local government officials of Talisay City and Barangay Bulacao, parents, students, alumni, and friends who celebrated with them on this joyous occasion. She also extended her appreciation for the love and support showered on AAC.

With her enthusiasm for the significant event, Dr. Ortega conveyed, "We are thrilled to celebrate 93 wonderful years of serving the community as a Christian educational institution. The roots of our school run deep, and our fruits—our dear alumni—are scattered not only here in the Philippines but all over the world. I am proud and honored to say that Adventist Academy-Cebu continues to train young people to be of better service in this world and in the world to come. Truly, AAC is 'where youth begin to serve.'"

Dr. Ortega further acknowledged the school's reliance on divine guidance. Moreover, Sharon Rose Estores, an alumna of AAC, showed her participation for the celebration amid distance by sharing a recorded musical video presentation of her batch, Le Meilleur 99, for the Sabbath School program.

"From humble beginnings to becoming a beacon of knowledge, Adventist Academy-Cebu has nurtured generations of bright minds, shaping them into tomorrow's leaders. To the visionary leaders, passionate educators, diligent staff, and devoted alumni, who have contributed to AAC's success, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of you. Cheers to all students, past and present, who have walked these halls, embracing challenges and reaching for the stars. Your accomplishments inspire us all," Estores posted on social media.

The guest speaker during the opening ceremony, the Honorable Samsam Gullas, the mayor of Talisay City, expressed his thanks for the invitation. He extended his congratulations to the leaders, faculty, and staff for their unwavering commitment to quality education over the past 93 years.

"AAC's contribution to Talisay's progress is undeniable, and they remain one of our city's esteemed educational institutions. Under our administration, the Talisay City Government will wholeheartedly support Adventist Academy-Cebu. To AAC's students, I encourage you to continue making your school proud by becoming exemplary individuals and leaders within your communities," Mayor Gullas said.

In addition to celebrating its founding anniversary, Adventist Academy-Cebu joined in commemorating the 160th founding anniversary of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. As an educational institution under the church, AAC recognized and celebrated the church's milestones and achievements. Both occasions highlighted the shared commitment and legacy of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and Adventist Academy-Cebu in shaping lives, fostering holistic education, and making a positive impact on the community.

The celebration included a varied display of Filipino delicacies, different Filipino games, a colorful parade, and a concert for a cause by the Harmonic Youth, which aimed to raise funds for the construction of the girl's dormitory. To give back to the community, AAC showcased its multi-talented students by offering a free concert at the park of Talisay City Baywalk. The event featured performances by the elementary choir, SHS students, Harmonic Youth, and AAC students with instruments. The festivities also included breathtaking ball games, the tradition of a grand social night, a plated boodle fight, and the highly anticipated fireworks display.

As the anniversary celebration concluded, Adventist Academy-Cebu reaffirmed its commitment to providing a holistic education that nurtures the minds, bodies, and spirits of its students. Through its unwavering dedication to service, empathy, resilience, versatility, integrity, commitment, and excellence, AAC continues to empower the youth to become responsible citizens of this world and the world to come.
