A total of 120 theology students from Surya Nusantara Adventist University participated in the Digital Discipleship Reach 26 Training, held April 3-5, 2026, at the university’s Alumni Hall. The training focused on strengthening digital ministry and preparing participants for the global OneVoice27 initiative.
The program featured four communication and media leaders who shared insights on digital ministry and evangelism. Presenters included Pastor Sonny Situmorang, communication director of the Adventist Church in West Indonesia(WIUM); Pastor Raymond Lohonauman, director of Hope Channel Indonesia; Pastor Rudi Purba, communication director of the Adventist Church in North Sumatra(NSM); and Pastor Samardi Aruan, communication director of the Adventist Church in East Sumatra(ESM).
Throughout the three-day training, speakers equipped students with practical strategies for digital ministry, social media evangelism, spiritual content production and the integration of media ministry with OneVoice27: Mission for All, a global initiative scheduled to launch Sept. 5, 2026. The sessions encouraged participants to view digital platforms as mission fields and to use emerging technologies to share the gospel with wider audiences.
Dr. Rexon Nainggolan, president of UASN, expressed the university’s support for the church’s digital mission efforts and emphasized the importance of digital ministry in today’s world.
“The largest mission field today is in the palm of our hands—our smartphones. Theology students must become digital missionaries ready to reach billions of people through one voice,” Nainggolan said.
Faculty members and church leaders from the region also attended and expressed support for the initiative.
Student participants described the training as an eye-opening experience that expanded their understanding of ministry in the digital age. One participant said the sessions challenged traditional perceptions of mission work by showing how platforms such as TikTok, Instagram and YouTube can serve as tools for sharing the gospel and connecting with audiences beyond the reach of conventional church ministries.
Another student said the presentations on OneVoice27 helped participants recognize 2027 as a significant moment for the global Adventist Church. The student said the training inspired attendees to begin preparing now to contribute to a worldwide movement focused on sharing hope through a united digital witness.
The training forms part of the WIUM’s preparation for OneVoice27, the worldwide church’s digital evangelism emphasis scheduled for September 2027. Through the initiative, UASN seeks to develop young theologians who are not only skilled preachers but also effective digital missionaries capable of sharing the gospel through online platforms.
